Position Overview
FedEx is hiring Diesel Truck Technicians to perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on Class 6–8 commercial trucks at centralized fleet maintenance shops. You will troubleshoot diesel engines, automatic and manual transmissions, full air brake systems, and EPA-mandated aftertreatment systems using manufacturer diagnostic platforms. This is a senior-level shop position commanding premium pay within the FedEx fleet maintenance structure.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair Cummins, Detroit Diesel, and PACCAR diesel engine failures using OEM diagnostic software and scan tools.
- Service and rebuild Allison automatic and Eaton manual transmissions, clutch assemblies, and driveline components.
- Perform full air brake system diagnosis and repair including compressors, valves, chambers, slack adjusters, and ABS modules.
- Troubleshoot and service DPF regeneration systems, DEF dosing units, SCR catalysts, and EGR systems per EPA compliance.
- Conduct DOT annual inspections and state safety inspections on Class 6–8 commercial vehicles.
Qualifications & Benefits
Must be 18+ with minimum 3 years Class 6–8 diesel truck repair experience. ASE Medium/Heavy Truck certifications (T2, T4, T5, T6) preferred. Must provide basic hand tools; FedEx supplies diagnostic platforms, lifts, and specialty equipment. Valid CDL preferred for test drives.
