Powerplant Mechanics are the engine specialists who perform on-wing inspections, module replacements, trend monitoring, and troubleshooting that keeps these multi-million dollar engines delivering reliable thrust across millions of flight hours annually.
Position Overview
FedEx Express is hiring Powerplant Mechanics to perform on-wing engine maintenance and troubleshooting on cargo aircraft at hub maintenance facilities. You will conduct borescope inspections, replace engine accessories and line-replaceable modules, troubleshoot FADEC and engine indicating systems, and perform engine runs following maintenance actions. This is a specialized engine role within the FedEx Express maintenance organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-wing borescope inspections of turbofan engine hot sections documenting blade condition and wear patterns.
- Remove and install engine accessories including starters, generators, fuel controls, and bleed air valves.
- Replace quick-engine-change modules and fan blades following manufacturer service bulletins and time limits.
- Troubleshoot engine performance anomalies using FADEC diagnostic data, trend monitoring reports, and cockpit crew writeups.
- Perform post-maintenance engine ground runs verifying thrust, vibration, temperature, and oil pressure parameters.
Qualifications & Benefits
Must hold a valid FAA Powerplant certificate (Airframe & Powerplant preferred). Minimum 3 years experience on high-bypass turbofan engines in a Part 121 or Part 145 environment. GE CF6, GEnx, or PW4000 experience highly valued. Must work rotating shifts.
