About FedEx Express Courier Dispatch

FedEx Express dispatch operations coordinate the precise timing of thousands of courier pickups and deliveries across every metro market in the country. Dispatch Specialists are the real-time commanders who assign routes, respond to on-call customer pickups, redirect couriers for service recovery, and ensure that every time-definite package meets its guaranteed delivery commitment. Working from station dispatch offices, these specialists balance volume forecasts, courier availability, and customer priorities simultaneously across dozens of active routes.

Position Overview

FedEx Express is hiring Dispatch Specialists to manage real-time courier routing and service coordination at local station facilities. You will assign daily route manifests to couriers, handle inbound customer pickup requests, and monitor route progress throughout the day to ensure on-time performance targets are met. This is an on-site office position within a FedEx Express station offering structured weekday schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and assign daily courier route manifests using FedEx proprietary dispatch and routing software systems.
• Process real-time on-call pickup requests from customers, assigning the nearest available courier for immediate response.
• Monitor courier route progress via GPS tracking systems, identifying delays and rerouting for service recovery.
• Coordinate late-freight cutoff decisions with station management to maximize outbound sort inclusion.
• Communicate with couriers via mobile dispatch systems regarding route changes, customer instructions, and volume updates.

Qualifications & Benefits

Must be 18+ with a high school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 1 year experience in logistics dispatch, courier coordination, or transportation operations preferred. Exceptional multitasking ability, geographic familiarity, and comfort with dispatch software required. Strong verbal communication under time pressure essential.
