Receiving Associates are the first hands that touch inventory when it arrives at a FedEx Supply Chain distribution center. Every pallet, carton, and loose item that flows into the facility must be verified against purchase orders, inspected for damage, scanned into the warehouse management system, and staged for put-away — all with zero tolerance for quantity errors that would cascade into picking inaccuracies and customer order failures downstream. Receiving is where inventory accuracy begins.
Position Overview
FedEx Supply Chain is hiring Receiving Associates to process inbound vendor shipments at distribution center facilities. You will unload inbound trailers, verify freight against purchase orders and advance ship notices, scan items into the WMS, and stage received inventory for forklift put-away. This is a daytime dock-side position critical to maintaining downstream inventory accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Unload inbound vendor trailers using pallet jacks, transferring palletized and loose freight to the receiving staging area.
- Verify received quantities and SKUs against purchase orders, flagging overages, shortages, and damaged items immediately.
- Scan all received inventory into the warehouse management system, generating put-away tasks for forklift operators.
- Inspect inbound freight for visible damage, documenting exceptions with photographs and carrier damage reports.
- Stage verified pallets in designated put-away lanes organized by storage zone for efficient forklift processing.
Qualifications & Benefits
Must be 18+ years of age. No prior receiving or warehouse experience required — full training provided. Strong counting accuracy and attention to detail essential. Must lift up to 50 lbs and work at dock-side receiving areas.
